If the movie with Hepburn and MacMurray you have seen, had read the book. I had hoped to benefit more from the book, but found the film to match the product line to line. Good movie, good book. Rating: 3 / 5

It is the turn of the 20th Century in Central America. Alice Adams is a twenty-two years old woman. It does not have a new dress for the mother trying to improve an old dress top by them. Instead of flowers from a floresta, it takes time and violet dance, they perdus.Le central theme of the novel is getting ahead in society, both financially and moved socialement.Alice and reminds me of another great hero of Scarlett O’Hara “Gone With the Wind.” Both women are fighting hard to get back into society. Both want to capture the bachelors in dance, although both men have been promised to another. Both women have a father who has done his time and living in a dream world. Both women are courageous and unshakable, even when their world collapses arund.Le Alice’s father, Virgil, was a beautiful characrer. I thought Alice Adams much in these two weeks after he read it and thought that brings a smile to my visage.D first published in 1920, Alice Adams is a gentle, timeless story, because we be able to see. The characters are as “good people” of ordinary people who, out of pride, greed, betrayal and revenge. Can Halfway through the book, the reader, what’s coming, but Booth Tarkington had a gift for a happy ending, or at least that convinces the reader from seeing leaves as we (learned, was in The Magnificent Ambersons as the George Carved wood is correct after all). Booth Tarkington loved people. This shows in his books. He understood human nature, but he loved gens.Certaines demographics can help you to judge my point of view of Alice Adams. I am a man, the Council was for a small city for forty-two, and I love people. Rating: 5 / 5

One of the great novels of ambition, in an attempt to rise above the ordinary failure. Alice Adams is a dreamer who wants things his fight against the East-class existence can not deliver, especially universities and higher expectations in the romance department. Arthur Russell as the rich get their choice, it creates a web of lies to impress, but when he attends a family dinner at home with Alice, he learns the truth about his real life and gestures with his results will be disastrous for Alice. To make matters worse, her father, with his humility, issues related to glue factory owned by him and his brother has just stolen $ 300 games to go by his employer too. Alice Russell lost, but also their placement, and the novel ends with his entry violently Frincke Business College.C is the best novel, Tarkington, and Alice is certainly his greatest fictional character. It is realistic to draw, and because it is so realistic that we sympathize with her and the feeling of discomfort she felt with her. We want them to stop them in marriage, but we know we can not sit and helpless, she destroyed all her dreams. We know that his behavior is reprehensible, and she gets what she deserves, but we can not but pity for her. It is an engaging novel and is often read without ever ennuyeux.Rating: 5 / 5

The Pulitzer Prize-selling novel of 1922 is the way in which I normally hate. I asked, The Age of Innocence for certain things in this novel: the upper class and classism, the claims of the rise in society and with the “right” people. However, I ended up enjoying this novel. Why? Now that Alice Adams. Not the book, the title character. Alice used to the era version of “It” girls in their community. Beautiful, good family and a perfect style. But was the absence of the father, rising incomes comparable to those of his friends and colleagues star Alice. She is desperate to recover, but also loyal to his family. His desperation mixed with an understanding of where his father was a very likeable character, even if they tried, part of a crowd, which I will hate them as viewers. This is a comic novel, but I would not say it is “Laugh Out Loud Funny.” Alice in a phase of growth and maturity is desperately charming. That’s the word Alice Adams: Charming. Because I think that many novels of this time, a little sad, Alice Adams, a charming novel and pleasant than I had is prévu.-Joe Sherry Rating: 3 / 5
