The lack of musical competence and context of the other reviewers I can agree only with their minds. I have most of the news Mehldau and rank at the top. Hard not. 1 I feel more “classic” with beautiful melodies and traditional print Mehldau. The March summit “- the last track on this – where we will be the dominant element of a conductor in the early parts of the disc 2 .. brought short, although you will hear a wide range of arrangements, melodies and techniques, the overall result a work interesting, engaging and very pleasant. That’s what jazz is to be designed – as far as luxury, casual but very smart musical carpet, which is something more meaningful life. Rating: 5 / 5

Wow. I was listening to Brad Mehldau for a very long time, and I love all his albums. If Largo is over, I’m really addicted. When he Jorge Rossy, Jeff Ballard on drums replaced, the trio took off to all new levels (see Day is Done and the live album). I had last week, the Highway and No. Rider ‘have not stopped listening. I probably heard from the beginning to the end of each day. It’s probably the first album where I do not want to jump to a specific title, but I would like to any track to hear him (and then after each piece). Each track has its own special place in the album. This does not mean that the title should not be listened to at random. . . Audition Joshua Redman solo compositions for orchestra Brad is something that must be heard by every fan of jazz and contemporary music. Mehldau and Redman play each other is just one of the candy are you in this album (see The Falcon Fly Again for one of many examples). While the orchestral compositions are phenomenal, as Mehldau organized the “jazz” instruments is just as impressive. Everything seems to fade, and if in parfait.Je not over-analyze anything here, because I’m sure it would be unfair to have the album. Let’s just say that I think is the best album of jazz, which I have heard for many years. Rating: 5 / 5

First, enough comparisons Keith Jarrett. These are two very different musicians. . . it.Ok Get Over, I heard this album for a few days now, but WOW! I was a fan of Mehldau Largo (the first collaboration with Jon Brion), so I already loved the mix of Brion to the production style box, with sorrow and Mehldau’s often cruel game with the heavy groove of Matt Chamberlain. I think that Brion and Mehldau are spirits in their approaches to music (who can own virtuosity Brion at Largo in Los Angeles every month to go doubt relatives.) That is, this is very different from the record Largo. Largo had built a good bunch of songs about the game with Brad threw some fresh Trix (strings, Mellotron, etc.) to the general experience a fresh touch. Highway Rider is closer to a long history. The strings are to congratulate not only the piano, in many cases, the orchestra, bass sax, etc., actually drive the songs. Sometimes you have to write to an album by a virtuoso pianist listening forgotten because Brad left behind and lets the setting speak for itself. And Joshua Redman is the ideal choice for the dominant soloist. Just listen strings, as his solo weaves tangled between the parties to “Do not be sad… Surprising.” Highway Rider “is a very chaotic melody is a bit difficult to locate, and then the song will decide in a beautifully compelling outro end. Jeff Ballard and Larry show why they have the best rhythm section in jazz, perhaps on the planet. For me, the real highlight of the album 20 minutes the score is epic, “Now you must Alone / Walking the Peak mount.” This could be part of more elaborate and beautiful than Brad ever written. It’s like a soundtrack to Sergio Leone in its many peaks and valleys, never strayed far from the original topic. Positively breathtaking. Apart from Ben Allison, I do not see too many people Jazz increases both the conventional boundaries in their music with marvelous results. As Allison, is Brad album for fans of the album. There is a certain line, fire-bong, you put a helmet and off to another record some of the world. Thanks to Brad and the rest of the album. no, I’m still not in the second half of the album excavated, but I will update my post once I have to say on the part of this masterpiece. Brad Bravo! Brad Mehldau has celebrated as one of the greatest jazz pianist since his arrival on the scene in the 90 years and for good reason. His largest audience came in 2002 with the publication of “Largo”, a genre bending album, what was the greatest attention and has a new audience (even if some fans polarization … Probably the same kind of people moaning, if Dylan in plugged in) to work Mehldau. Experiments on the plate was exciting and fresh, but soon his more traditional style with self-insured, straight (very worthwhile) album “Anything Goes Back” (2004). Today, after many records trio solo tours and collaborations, Brad Mehldau, Jon Brion brings us “The Road Rider”, the long-awaited sequel to the Largo. Highway Rider is an album that really needs to be appreciated without distraction, and preferably to the equipment of Nice. This album is very unique and sounds recorded acoustically different from almost everything I’ve ever heard. The colors on this CD are extremely important. As I sat there and listened to the report for the first time I ever shocked when the band suddenly slipped into the soundscape trio was. It is really extraordinary. This is not Charlie Parker with Strings “or any kind of commercial open orchestration by all means. Think more like Phillip Glass. This is a serious and intense material. These compositions are relentless in their dissonances, but there are many beautiful moments in the chaos to happen. All compositions, Mehldau on this album work together as one work, and all the musicians and the orchestra are all one voice in a way that no other album Jazz Orchestra / was never successful. This work is really a journey . you hear the song that sounds like the voice of children, adult voices, laughter, accompanied by instruments of all kinds, the sounds of pain and joy over the long term this work. With so many people in the studio is a risk that things may seem fragmented, but that happens only rarely with this project. If you click on the cover, look on this album deals with the struggle of living the American Dream, isolationism, of lost illusions of a post in the tech boom, and the confusion and to risk losing the unique identity of America as a society. But it is also a very personal story as well (see the notes for the album on the website Mehldau). It is similar to works such as Springsteen Born to Run, The Great Gatsby or on the Route.Au first I was not sure what you expect from this 2-CD set, but I thought it would not be able to match the originality of the Largo. This album is a whole different caliber . This work is ambitious, innovative and visionary. done with great respect for all other jazz pianists of today, great work, I do not know how to answer this question. Mehldau has raised the bar so high that it will be difficult to achieve set. I take anything from this album will be swept under the carpet as the experience “interesting” and to deal with the conceptual nature of the album, but you show me an album to be more influential than-10, even 20 years, on our line. No other pianist or is it an artist continue to reinvent the genre new as Mehldau. No one made a record like this. This album will solidify his place in jazz as a genius and his muse as compositeur.Autoroute Rider the game has changed name. The few people the negative direction of the album really wanted to overthrow attention Engineering modern jazz were, but they must know deep down that this work is deeper. Not only the greatest album of jazz from Wayne Shorter Live “Footprints” in my opinion, but how will become one of the most important recordings of the 21st century. I do not expect that someone a recording of jazz symbolically to make for this time and was literally in shock for hours after you listen. While Mehldau, like any musician, too owe to their predecessors (Fred Hirsch, Evans, Monk, and many others), it is fair to say he has done enough on its own to make it as one of the greatest pianists and local jazz musicians of all time.
