What is at first stike, as Barbery is changing his style suited the story, because it is Paloma, a precocious child of 12 or Renée, the concierge, the protagonist. While the “Deep Thought” and “The Journal of movement of the world” Paloma is a simple and direct language, the thoughts of Renee are written in difficult, sometimes dense language. For example, at one point she said: “The sense is just another impulse, momentum increased at the highest level of performance…” And further: “The effectiveness of intelligence gives us the opportunity to be unfounded, the complexity can be … This is attriburable inelegant translation. Of course, some comments Renee on painting and music and life in general, and ideas are worth deeper and deeper reflection.
