It has almost two years ago since the last version of Alkaline Trio Agony & Irony, that the plight of some older fans, the band saw having a more positive approach to radio in their songwriting. Although technically A & I is great, he lacked the words, dark sorry endeared, previously the band many fans, old and new. Enter 2010, all three band members in their early thirties, and full of new experiences of the last two years have raised. I know that Matt Skiba recently divorced, and this experience seems to be a catalyst for a good amount of the songwriting on this album. Some familiar themes of alcohol and grief are present once more, and a sound reminiscent of the trio is back, circa 1998. Although it is obvious that the guys have jumped since 98 musically developed, older fans will be pleased to hear the darker, more up-tempo, guitar-driven songs, instead of strings and orchestra on the two previous albums. I am a longtime fan of Alkaline Trio, and I have all the albums. My favorite albums are Good Mourning and From Here to Infirmary. I must say that I was not even with Agony and irony, because I was not impressed with how his new (some songs were “OK”). I feel this album captures the sound with more success than I love Alkaline Trio. Every song on this album is great, and I have not heard from beginning to end since his arrival. I need to learn new words to songs before I seem them live next month:) I think this album will be nice to all fans of Alkaline Trio, old and new. Pick it up! Get this CD now! Every song is great in its own way. Love the feeling of this album compared to A & I. I think I’ll take the old school fan but this album is very well written. Love the production too. I campare album Mouring Good.. (This is my favorite ). Not very radio friendly, but that’s a good thing. Glad to see it on their own label now and it shows. So many good songs, hard pcik my favorite. “American Scream”…. “Dorthy” … “Off the Map” are stellar songs. Hands down great buy for $ 9. 99 DVD is also well. pick this up! Rating: 5 / 5
