Like most fans Roky Erickson, I was looking forward to this version, especially in light of comments received light ahead of many. The 12 (mostly) new records are certainly a gift to the fans that we never thought to hear music again Roky. And there are a few gems. The second half (page 2 of the LP) is particularly strong – along with the title track Birds’d crash is as great as I had hoped, while serait.Comme ugly as it is possible to find the gift in the mouth, there However, some disappointment here. Sad to say, but to hear this album, you can hear that Roky is not engaged as in the preparation and registration, as you could hope for. It is quite clear that the musicians have worked around the best vocal takes, they could get Roky. For example, threatening John Lawman, a rocker in a previously published version of lo-fi live sound was cut and paste, such as Roky, only very few lines are sung in several meetings, instead of a live take. And two of the 12 tracks are not much more lo-fi cassette recordings overdubbed 40 years, producer with Will Sheff audio noise truth through the documentary about Roky recovery inspired by untreated schizophrenia, You’re Gonna Miss Me This has a positive comment in the comments, but they are like gadgets and even a little offended Roky – and they do not soit.Note as sound art work: 5.4

As inspiring as this album is back, I’m disappointed a bit, the light of Roky see Perform 6 times in the last four years – always with my friends the explosives, which struck me as his backing band the best of all time. For me to do, when all is said and done, a Roky Rock of all time and big wheels – that is what he was born. After him twice in ‘08, New York, his plans at the time were to register with explosives to produce more with Billy Gibbons hopes. The next thing I knew he played with The Black Angels doing a lot of materials from 13th Floor Elevators, winding up with a backing band Okkervil River. . . . . a thin strip, I would add, but they are the right Roky? Depending on whether he wants to be a folk-rock artist, against the force of the fire-breathing kind, he seemed to be morphing from a few years ago. (Per year Bucketfull Interview with Freddie Brains explosives last, leaving the support after his medication back, with the results to be expected ….. a shame!) Rating: 5.4

Brilliant, beautiful and absolutely necessary. Roky songs and production will flow, at least for me the most important album of the year. Thank you! Rating: 5.5

Like Johnny Cash, this CD brings together hear songs from the prison / detention / God / Redemption together in a great music. In a sense, a kind of reminds me of Skip Spence “train” LP, but not quite odd. This music is not as strange as early solo outings, much more interesting than its production in the 1990s, and could be the best album from Roky when to wear it after what he experienced. to get access to the producer Wil Sheff the best and things go too far, as Rick Rubin with Johnny Cash as another reviewer mentionnés.Je has many recordings of the 13th Floor Elevators Roky solo over the years and this is certainly far the most moving. If you are looking for hard driving songs about demons and goblins, you should opt for more “The Evil” LP or other collections of the late 1970s-80s. Or for even more “out there” to do almost all of the 13th Floor Elevators enough (do not expect a good sound, though). The book has a great biography Update Roky compassionate and described his rapid rise First, the rapid decline, and only a terrible experience with the judicial authorities and the Redneck in Texas in the 1960s. Then, when everyone thought it could happen never seem to end up Roky a relatively normal life and take personal redemption. I am so happy for him and his family they have all experienced. The mere fact that he survived through it all is a miracle in itself. Hopefully he can continue to bring his music to the masses and get the attention and fame he deserves. Your story itself has such a great ending to many others such as Syd Barrett, Skip Spence and others who do not bring to him back to us. Damage Stacey Sutherland, John Ike Walton and Danny Galinda could not live long enough to see him back with Roky nous.Continuez good work and I hope you can keep the flame burning. Rating: 5.5

triumphant return in the event of loss, but never forgotten icon of the Rock and Roll! For the reader, the story of Roky and the group mid-sixties, he co-founded the 13th Floor Elevators (define type of sponsor Psychedelic rock from Austin, TX, at 1965-1969), let me explain first what the musicians , producers and the rest of the music industry have been known for decades: Roky Erickson was the voice of rock and roll (apologies to Mick and Van). Unfortunately, for reasons that are irrelevant to this criticism, the masses generally not aware of the undeniable influence Roky ALL rock and roll! Many thanks to Will Sheff and Okkervil Roky to get out of retirement for this effort. “True Love chased all evil” is another reason Roky MERIT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame enshrined. Need further proof of his place in rock history? Check Kevin McAlester amazing doc about Roky for the competition’s history. . on You’re Gonna Miss Me: A Film Roky erickson.ra. I. P.
